Will my luggage be forwarded when changing flights?

Do you need to change planes during the journey to your final destination? What happens to your checked baggage and where can you collect it from the baggage belt? If the connection time is less than 24 hours, it is called a connection. If it is longer than 24 hours, it is called a stopover. In this case, your luggage will not be forwarded to your destination, and you will have to pick it up from the baggage belt during your stopover. It is only possible to forward baggage for flights with a connection within 24 hours.

You can check where your luggage will be unloaded at the check-in desk. Connecting with the same airline or a partner company: Your luggage is almost always sent directly to the final destination. There are some exceptions, such as North America, Australia and South Africa. If your connection is at one of these locations, you must pick up your baggage at baggage claim and check it in again for your next flight.

Connecting with two separate tickets with the same airline or a partner airline: Your baggage will not be sent to the final destination if you have booked separate tickets. If you have a connection and are flying with the same airline, you can ask at the check-in counter if it is possible to forward your luggage to the final destination.
